Cottenham U10 – Histon Hornets U10 (Blue)

Following on from a great game against Haslingfield recently, the Histon Hornets U10 histonhornetslogoboys were ready raring to go again for Saturday’s local derby against Cottenham U10. Right from the whistle Histon had one thing in mind, pass move and attack. The Histon boys had the better of the early first half exchanges. Following great team movement with the Histon defence winning the ball and passing through the midfield, Alistair picked up the ball, opened up the Cottenham defence to score a terrific
goal!

As the first half progressed, Histon gained more and more possession, pushing Cottenham back into their own half. However, Cottenham were not to be outdone, as they had several good chances to level the scoring. Thwarted only by brilliant defending from George and great stops by Oscar in goal. Histon continued to push forward regardless, and by the end of the first half found themselves 4 up. Stunning goals from Miles, Nathaniel, Frazer and Alistair.

As the second half kicked off the Histon manager shuffled his pack and brought on several substitutes to give the team fresh legs. The second half started as the first finished with Histon pushing on for more goals. Alfie pounced on a loose ball just outside the penalty box and drove the shot into the bottom left hand corner of the net for number . The Histon boys continued to push high up the pitch, and, but for the Cottenham goalie playing a man of the match performance, the score could have easily been in double figures.

As the second half progressed, Cottenham moved slowly but surely into the ascendancy as Histon tired, scoring 3 quick goals with no Histon reply. When the final whistle blew Histon ran out worthy winners. However, toward the end of the game the boys may well have liked to have converted more of the missed chances, to help make the game a little more secure. Though all said and done both teams played brilliantly, with very little to choose between them on the day. I am sure both managers and players walked away from the game happy with the way that the boys played.
